Back in 2018, my husband and I were able to fulfill out dream of building a custom home that would (hopefully!) be our forever home. During the building process and the three years since we have moved in, we chose a mix of bold and neutral colors that allow us to make a statement and add other colors into the mix. Check out our colors below!
Open floor plan accent color:
The biggest statement in our home is our navy kitchen. I had dreamed of a navy and gold kitchen for many years and this was our chance to make it happen! The navy is beautiful and the gray tones of the color allow us to make a statement that does not feel too intense to the eye. We chose a Benjamin Moore color, Blue Note, and disbursed it throughout our open floor plan. This includes our kitchen, accent wall, living room storage, and our study built-in bookcase.

Wall color:
At our first home, we had to get rid of some ugly yellow-beige walls and went with a medium toned gray. While we were happy with the color there, I wanted a lighter version in our current home. We chose Sherwin Williams Repose Gray which has a cool base that would match with the blues in the home.

Master bathroom & laundry room cabinets:
In keeping with the blue/grey color palette in the rest of the home, we chose a gray that had blue undertones for our laundry room and master bathroom cabinets. Benjamin Moore's Templeton Grey gives interest to an otherwise neutral areas and we love the contrast!

White is bright:
We love a good bright white and my favorite is Sherwin Williams Pure White. All of our baseboards, crown molding, small bathroom vanities, and remaining built-ins are in this color and it makes a wonderful, bright contrast to the grey on the walls. In the future, I plan to match the walls to this color to increase the brightness in our home and create a more neutral color palette.

Colorful home office:
As my husband utilizes the main study in the house, I turned a bedroom into my own office space. I wanted to add deeper color to the space to create a cozy atmosphere and it needed to be complimentary with the red-orange chair that was remaining in the space. I chose Sherwin Williams Green Bay and its gray undertones allows it to be bold without overpowering.

Painted brick exterior:
I am a huge fan of painted brick and we wanted our home to pop without being stark white. We went with Sherwin Williams Oyster White and there have been ZERO regrets.

When building, choose your colors with care as it is not a bill you want to pay again to have professionally painted. Choose neutral colors for your walls, paying attention to the amount of natural light you get in your home. Use bold colors intentionally and reflect them throughout the home when using an open floor plan to create a cohesive feel.
